We ensure that the Toy Libraries are not only for leisure activity but also helps in the holistic development of a child. Different games like building blocks, monopoly, puzzles, life skill games, soft toys and other educational aids benefits the children in the improvement of social, language, concentration, communication, creative thinking, leadership, confidence, teamwork, fine motor and critical thinking skills.
The Toy Bank tries to create gender neutrality through toys. And, it is with this vision that Toy Libraries are created. Toy Libraries give children the freedom to choose and play with what they want rather than stereotyping toys basis gender.
It was observed that after the creation of age-appropriate and gender-neutral Toy Libraries, the children interest to come and stay at the schools, Anganwadi centres and other educational institutions has increased. More than 65% of the respondents have shared that there has been a decrease in the dropout rate of children visiting the educational institution after the setting up of Toy Libraries.
The Educative Toy Libraries have not only decreased the dropout rate but also managed to indulge the children in play and recreational activities. Further, the children have started staying at the school, Anganwadi and other educational institutes and not running away. It would further ensure the children residing in the mainstream education system.
The Toy Bank tries to increase group play among the children by creating Toy Libraries. Playing in groups helps to enhance the social and communication skills of children. Over 90% of the respondents believe that the creation of Toy Libraries has increased the opportunity for children to play in groups. Playing in a group also teaches negotiation, leadership skills as well leads to increased empathy towards others.
Our Educative Toy Libraries not only consist of toys and board games but also storybooks. We ensure that in accordance with the age of the child, the libraries consist of storybooks that will help the child develop reading and learning skills.
79% of respondents are satisfied with the toys that we have sent across India to create Toy Libraries. And, most of the respondents shared that they would definitely partner with The Toy Bank in the future.
